Katy has a history of educating and developing positive youth via her teaching position in the Onslow County School district, the DoDea Pacific, and the Basic Continuing Education Department at Coastal Carolina Community College, as an Instructor, Camp Johnson Academic Studies Center, English Tutor.  


Studied Secondary Licensure in English at Western Carolina University

Studied Minor in History at University of Michigan–Flint

Also studied BA in English

Welcome to our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Youth Advisory Council. A student lead organization created to bring not only unity but understanding of sexuality to Onslow County youth. 

 The LGBT Youth Advisory Council needs area youth to volunteer for leadership positions.  Those interested should contact

Our mission is to….
Work toward a more accepting environment for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression though continuous education, training, support, social action in the community and advocacy. 

How we accomplish our Mission:

1)     Providing a safe environment around campus where students can support each other and learn about homophobia (an extreme and irrational aversion to homosexuality and homosexual people) transphobia (intense dislike of or prejudice against transsexual or transgender people.) , and other oppression's.

2)  Uniting and educating the school community about homophobia, transphobia, gender identity/expression, and sexual orientation issues, and;

3)  Fighting discrimination, harassment, and violence around campus
