This is Me!
A page dedicated to community individuals dedicated to improving lives of the LGBTQ+ community in Onslow County.
My activism began in the LGBTQ+ community about 32 years ago. Over that period of time, I have become very familiar with our issues, having assisting on a national, state and local level in organizations.
I have served on the board of directors for Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, Blair County Human Relations Advisory Board, Chair of Religion and Race Relations for Central Pennsylvania, and the Blair County HIV Task Force. In 1997 I was selected as one of four Pennsylvania’s to sit on President Clintons Hate Crimes Summit. In 2011, I was awarded Pennsylvania Citizen of the Year by the Pennsylvania Legislature.
In relation to local activism, I have been Director of the Pennsylvania Network of Unity Coalitions, Clearfield County LGBTQ Alliance, Co-Chair of the Clearfield County Democratic Committee, Board member of Family Services Battered Women’s Shelter, an active member of the Pennsylvania NAACP, Lay Minister of Jaggard United Methodist Church, and a board member of the Blair County HIV Task Force.
My husband Gary Hornbeck and I purchased a home in Jacksonville NC recently with our 15 year old son. We share 21 years of marriage, have three adult daughters, we have been foster parents to 25 children, and have 11 beautiful grandchildren.
