Outreach & Development

This position primarily oversees the procurement and management of professional partners of the Center for the LGBT Community. This position also includes assisting with grant writing, fundraising events, and development of the Center’s programs. The Intern will work to research and cultivate supporters, manage the organization’s donor databases, track and evaluate fundraising efforts, and organize events. The ideal candidate will have experience with donor relations, sponsorship, and grant writing. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and motivated individual to develop skills in nonprofit development work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge, sensitivity, and understanding of diverse lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender people in the community (including but not limited to Black, Indigenous, Communities of Color, immigration status, and varying socioeconomic backgrounds)

  • Organized and detail-oriented

  • Ability to generate and implement projects

  • Ability to take initiative and be self-sufficient in the position

  • Ability to follow instructions and accept/apply constructive criticism with a positive attitude to improve performance

  • Must be a current student and be enrolled in at least 1 course.

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

  • Must be in good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of internship.

Health and Wellness Internships

This position primarily works with the Health and Wellness committee.  This position includes supporting our peer support groups, our interim housing program, and our HIV/AIDS task force.  This is an excellent opportunity for an highly motivated individual seeking experience in either physical health, mental health or recovery fields.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge, sensitivity, and understanding of diverse lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender people in the community (including but not limited to Black, Indigenous, Communities of Color, immigration status, and varying socioeconomic backgrounds)

  • Interns must commit to 2 semesters of service, with a minimum of 16 hours per week (includes 8 hours direct service, supervision, and documentation).

  • Social Work students may work during the academic calendar but are expected to provide 16 hours per week.

  • Ability to follow instructions and accept/apply constructive criticism with a positive attitude to improve performance

  • Must be a current student and be enrolled in at least 1 course.

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

  • Must be in good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of internship

Social Media, Web & Marketing

This position creates and manages all social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for the Center for the LGBT Community and its programs. This position brings awareness to local policy and advocacy issues, including work with our executive director, and board of directors. The ideal candidate should have a strong level of experience with social media, a demonstrated writing ability, organizational skills, the ability to work both as part of a team and on their own, and creativity to spare. This is an excellent opportunity for marketing students.
